Laugavegurinn

Þorsmörk (Langidalur) - Emstrur - Álftavatn - Hrafntinnusker - Landmannalaugar

The best known trail of Iceland, and maybe one of the most beautiful of the world. Even if it is sometimes as crowded as his namesake, the shopping street in Reykjavík, it is well worth to do this trek if you want to become familiar with the icelandic landscape in all its forms.

My recommendation is to walk the Laugavegur in northerly direction for several reasons. It's much more appealing to enter the colourful world of Landmannalaugar on your own feet when descending from Hrafntinnuskur than with a bus along the road. The natural hot pool of Landmannalaugar alone is worth the visit, pure recreation. Despite reminding on Everest Basecamp, most people there never leave the campsite. So climb one of the mountains ore explore the fantastic valleys and you don't see much other tourists...
