The karst mountains of Yangshuo and Xingping

I combined a visit to a conference in the old harbour city of Quanzhou (former Cetong, the starting point of the ancient maritime silk road) with an excursion to one of Chinas most iconic landscapes: the karst mountains of Guilin. These mountains not only decorate the 20 Yuan bill, they also have a very special allure. It is not a primordial landscape anymore, and travelling with scrap bicycles was quite different to my usual way of exploring. Nevertheless, I want to show a few impressions of this journey into a different "another world". Most photos were taken during the days in Xingping.
