Landmannalaugar (2013)

Looking towards the meandering Jökulgilskvisl and the illuminated Gvendarhyrnar from the slopes of Suðurnámur.

A more detailed view of the Barmur ridge which dominates the Northern views from the Landmannalaugar Campsite.

It was a very dry July and sandstorms were visible from time to time. A fierce Northwind was responsible for this one. The clouds in the background are covering the third largest glacier of Iceland, Hofsjökull.

Bláhnúkur after sunset.

Snow, erosion and colours merge to fantastic forms in the Fjallabak.

The nights became darker and darker at the beginning of August. But the stars were shining on the ground...

Noctilucent clouds (NLC) above the Barmur. NLC are ice-clouds located in the mesosphere in about 80km height. So they are still lightened by the sun long after sunset. Normal clouds reach a maximum height of approximately 13km...

A stormy morning

A very deep precipice at the northern part of the Skalli ridge...

...an exciting viewpoint hard to keep on the sensor.

The sun came out again but the wind blew harder and harder. Impossible to set up a tripot i took a few pictures with the help of VR...
